Need a boost in members for a membership site?
Be creative, there are a lot of ways you can find new customers for any membership site.
Affiliate programs and software like the new DELAVO tm make it easy for anyone to set up a commission paying service that will encourage people to help sell your membership. Once you set it up, it will take care of keeping track of who sold what and how much to pay them.
You can also buy advertising through Google, Yahoo or “Click-Bank”. You should just make sure that you fully understand what you’re getting into and what you are signing up for. For instance, if you have a budget, stay within it. Read the instructions and set limits on the amount of advertising you are willing to pay for. Make for certain that whatever service you subscribe to, will not run your ads longer and bill you for more, than what you are willing to pay.
Read the fine print carefully because no one likes getting a surprise bill at the end of the month!
There are many free ways you can get the word out that are completely free. Do you tweet? Tweeting is a great way to get the word out, just make sure that you don’t use services like Twitter only to sell things. Twitter, Facebook, and MySpace are great avenues for bringing customers and products together but they are “social media” and if you remember what your mother told you about making friends and you’ll go a long way.
In social media as with many things, if you listen first and learn to talk about what other people are interested in more than just about yourself, you will make friends who we be more than glad to pass along your sales message as a courtesy.
Finally, if you are still struggling with gaining membership to your site it might be that your products are not as good as you thought they were or perhaps they are overpriced for your market.
Do some market research, join some other memberships and see if what you are offering is better, worse or in any way unique to the market place.
Use this “market research to your advantage and then think long and hard how you can use this knowledge to tweak your sales page and perhaps even your price.
Who knows maybe you will find after researching that the reason your membership is lagging is because your price is so low and it does not communicate the value that’s inside.
Perhaps doubling or tripling your sales price may be all you need to have a membership that is bursting at the seams!
